Introducing 4G+ LTE-A Routers with MIMO and Carrier Aggregation
LTE-Advanced Router
LTE-Advanced (LTE-A or LTE+) offers faster data speeds and greater capacity than standard 4G LTE. The enhanced LTE-A utilizes carrier aggregation to combine multiple frequency bands and employs MIMO technology for simultaneous transmission, improving data throughput and signal stability.
Carrier aggregation, short of CA, is a part of LTE-Advanced technology introduced since 3GPP Release 10. It enables 4G modems to use multiple frequency channels, increasing transmission bandwidth and peak speed on 4G internet connections. The sketch below indicates how 2x carrier aggregation works in OutdoorRouter.
Carrier aggregation includes three types: Intra-band Contiguous, Intra-band Non-Contiguous, and Inter-band Non-Contiguous.
Our LTE-Advanced routers, including CAT6, CAT12, and CAT16, support all three types of carrier aggregation. They automatically activate carrier aggregation depending on the mobile provider’s frequency channels.
Note: Carrier aggregation works on a single SIM card and does not require multiple SIM cards in the router.
